I absolutely love this place! My favorite thing to get is the Hot Chicken sandwich which is served with their cottage potatoes which is Amazing, I also got their cream of shrimp soup which is also my absolute favorite. Love Love Love it.

Love the chicken and sausage gumbo. Their conbread brings back childhood memories and the bread pudding is to die for. Staff is friendly and the owner makes you feel at home.

This is a great place to have brunch. The owner comes to every table to check that you are taken care of. This is the perfect lunch date place to take your mom or grandmother. The service is great, the staff care about their customers. I highly recommend trying this place out.

Cottage is a super simple restaurant with a good size menu. They serve up really good food at good prices. My favorite is this roll upps that they do. Don't miss it on the menu. The ground chuck with sausage and cheese is hands down my favorite. I could eat 100 of them.

The shrimp and corn bisque is incredible along with the rest of the menu. The staff could be more knowledgeable and trained to never reach over a customer and instead go around to that side of the table. All in all the food makes up for the staff issue.

So bizarre ... I get that this is a local favorite and I'm sure it needs to grow on you. The roll ups are an Asian dish Lumpias adapted to this. The chicken tasted strongly of fish. The almond tea was odd and the Coke was flat. The best part of the meal were the cottage potatoes. They were delicious. The prices were higher for the portions you receive in the quality of food. One redeeming quality was service the waitress and cashier and everyone that we encountered were very friendly. The napkins we odd and the fact that the menus are under plastic on the tables was also surprising.

I am only in Alexandria for Thanksgiving every other year.. I can say I have never been to Alexandria without eating at the Cottage. I want to 100% recommend this restaurant to not only the locals but also if your just passing through. And while you're there get a Mushroom Burger with provolone for me please.. Thanks!!!

Demi shrimp for the win! Lunches at The Cottage do not disappoint. Friendly staff, great food, clean, quiet. Great place for meeting with clients. Highly recommend!

The menu items that I found online turned out to be for a different restaurant that does not exist. The menu at this place is not extensive but for the amount of food you get for the price you pay I can reccomend it. I would not go into this place expecting something that will wow you but it is decent in taste price and service.

Delicious Foo, great atmosphere!

Very pleasant atmosphere. I like to bring people here for their birthdays or other special occasions. The cornbread is as good as any I've eaten.

First time here, I was very impressed with the red snapper! Everything we ordered was delicious. Portions are just right for lunch. Very friendly staff, fast service. Will be back for sure!

A hometown lunch destination. I have always loved their Cream of Shrimp soup and the cottage potatoes. The Almond Tea is refreshing and delicious. A great place to get together with friends and have a bite.

Where to even begin? Ordered a salad with ranch and was informed that it would be the "house ranch". Okay cool, until I realized the house ranch was miracle whip with pepper sprinkled in it. Ugh. Ordered a roast beef sandwich. Oh my God, obviously precooked and frozen slab of spam roast beef with an over abundance if yet even MORE miracle whip than the salad had. And so very greasy. I left feeling nauseous. I dont know how this place stays open when they serve 3 hours a day and they feed people food like this. YIKES

Very good sandwiches. Just open for lunch (no evening hours), but the food is good. Seems like an efficient operation too.

As the name implies, the Cottage is a comfortable, homestyle restaurant with an upscale twist. My personal favorite is the bacon and cheese stuffed burger, with potatoes and an almond tea to wash it down. The price is slightly higher than fast food but the experience and the flavor is well worth it!! I only wish the almond tea had free refills...

The staff is great, the food is ALWAYS beyond incredible! The soups and salads are wonderful (especially cream of shrimp!), the shrimp and avocado salad is amazing, the hamburger steak & cottage potatoes is always a winner. I've literally never eaten anything there that isn't great (and I am picky about the quality of my food!). The desserts are all great, especially the dessert crepes. The almond tea is a MUST! Eat local - eat at The Cottage!!
